Did you know that Hidden Valley Ranch dressing originated in Santa Barbara?

It was created by Steve and Gayle Henson, who owned a large property off of San Marcos pass. Eventually they renamed their property hidden valley ranch. After much experimentation, the couple invented their signature buttermilk-based ranch dressing in the early 60s.

The original ranch dressing was sold to food service companies and private individuals throughout California before it was packaged for retail customers from Santa Barbara; in the 1970s, they outgrew the space and moved their headquarters to Colorado. As we all know It’s now a staple in every household.
