There are a million headlines right now about the NAR settlement regarding realtor commissions. Specifically about how buyer’s agents are paid. In the current model of compensation, the seller pays the buyer’s agent commission and the commission is required to be specified in the MLS. The settlement is changing that model. The buyer’s agent commission will not be in the MLS, and Buyer’s agents will be required to have a contract with their buyer, with a compensation amount, in order to show them property. Buyers may be responsible for paying some or all of their agents' fee if the seller doesn’t agree to cover it. There are still some gray areas about how this is all going to work, but I wanted to invite you to call me to discuss everything I know and answer any of your questions. The headlines can make things more than what they are, so if you’re wondering what the real deal is, please give me a call.
